Whitethorn

James Francis Preston built this Greek Revival mansion around 1855. Preston commanded troops in the 4th Virginia Infantry and died at home in 1862, most likely of wounds received at First Manassas. The house can be seen from a walking trail. (Trail begins at Ashlawn Dr., house not open to public.)
