This c. 1843 manor house was used as a field hospital by Union troops when generals George Crook and William Averell passed through Blacksburg following their victory at Cloyd’s Mountain. The Broce house is now owned by Virginia Tech’s Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. (1503 Tom’s Creek Rd.)
